Media Advisory 139th Cleveland Police Academy Lateral Transfer Graduation

CLEVELAND – Mayor Frank G. Jackson will administer the oath of office to three Cleveland patrol officers who will be graduating from the Cleveland Police Academy. Ceremony begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 in the Mayor’s Red Room. The graduating class consists of members who were hired as lateral transfers. Each officer has prior law enforcement experience with other agencies in the state of Ohio.

Cleveland, Ohio 44114 Due to budget enhancements made possible by the passage of Issue 32, the Division of Police anticipates hiring 150 police officers in 2018 and an additional 100 officers in the first quarter of 2019. The new officers will expand the ranks from just under 1,500 sworn members to just over 1,600. The Division is scheduled to hold four academy classes throughout 2018.
