Contractors Hit Unmarked Gas Line while Making Water Main Repairs

Friday, March 1, 2019

Contractors working on behalf of Cleveland Water hit a 6-inch high-pressure gas main this morning on South Green Road in South Euclid. The contractors were in the process of making repairs to a 12-inch water main break when they inadvertently hit the gas main.

As a result, the South Euclid Fire Department evacuated the homes and businesses as well as a school on South Green Road between Mayfield and Ardendale Roads as a safety precaution. There are no reports of any injuries.

Dominion East Ohio is on site working to get the gas main turned off. Once the gas main is turned off, Cleveland Water contractors will need to get the water turned off before repairs can be made to the gas main.
