City of Cleveland Reminds Residents of Waste Collection Delays and City Office Closure

As the City of Cleveland prepares for New Year’s Day, please be advised of waste collection delays and City office closures.

The City of Cleveland Department of Public Works WILL NOT collect waste on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020 in observance of New Year’s Day. Waste collection will be delayed by one day following New Year’s Day. If your waste collection date is on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, here is how the delay will impact you:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 1 waste collection will take place on Jan. 2
  • Thursday, Jan. 2 waste collection will take place on Jan. 3
  • Friday, Jan. 3 waste collection will take place on Jan. 4

City of Cleveland offices – including City Hall, Cleveland Public Power and Cleveland Water – will be closed on Jan. 1. All City of Cleveland offices will reopen Jan. 2. The Willard Garage attached to City Hall will also be closed on Jan. 1. On Dec. 31, the Willard Garage will close at 9 p.m.

City of Cleveland Neighborhood Resource &Recreation Centers will be open from 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Dec. 31.

The City has not scheduled a separate pick-up for discarded holiday trees. Holiday trees set out on the curb for collection will go in with regular household trash.
